Jason Montoya is a Colorado Native, born and raised in Colorado Springs, who dreams of a world full of giant transforming robots, super heroes that guard the skies and seas, where nobody EVER honks their horn at you in traffic. Drawing on everything since he could hold a pencil, much to his grandmother’s chagrin, she knew even at just two or three years old he was going to make the world more colorful. He has read “the funnies” in his bath robe and classic old man pajamas with a cup of coffee since he was five.

A born curmudgeon with a child-like spirit, a paradox if you will, comics have always brought out the best in him. He is an artist who works in a variety of mediums including marker, watercolor, gouache, pencil, color pencil, ink, oil, acrylic, airbrush, and digital. His preferred medium would be Copic markers on 2.5”x3.5” Bristol.

Jason is the founder of Themis Comix and particularly enjoys working on his brainchild, “Baron Von Saturday’s Tales From Beyond” when card work and the 9-5 allows. As well as, working with author and good friend Christopher M. Salas to bring the pages of his novels, the “Abigail: Curses and Demons” series, to life as graphic novels.

Jason does it all: penciling, inking, lettering, co-plotting, editing, designing and writing. His art is a labor of love and he enjoys every moment of creation (or at least most of them). Last but not least, he is also a published sketch card artist currently working on several projects with industry leading companies.

Jason currently lives in Colorado with his Mainah (from Maine) wife Ashley, who is sans accent, go figure! He also has 2 adult children, a son Noah and a daughter Nina.
